The brief

The Challenge: A Two-Sided Marketplace for Event Gig Work

FluxGig is a talent marketplace built to simplify how agencies hire event staff — baristas, bartenders, brand ambassadors, mascots, product specialists, booth teams — and how that talent finds paid gigs. Generic freelance boards are built for remote deliverables, not for date-bound, location-bound event work with rates, applications, and last-minute fills. The product needed a Laravel platform that could run both sides of the market: agencies posting gigs with pay, dates and cities; talent applying, saving jobs, and building a public profile; plus memberships, internal chat, filters, and notifications that actually match how experiential agencies hire.

Key Technical Highlights

01

Dual-Sided Laravel Marketplace

Separate agency and talent accounts on one Laravel app: agencies post gigs (role, dates, pay, city); talent browse, apply, and save jobs. Featured listings pull live event gigs such as ASH New Orleans, AASLD Denver, and AAO New Orleans.

02

Search, Filters & Category Taxonomy

Faceted discovery by skill, category, location, language, seller level and rate. Categories map to real event work — baristas, bartenders, brand ambassadors, mascots, product specialists, booth staff, badge scanners, hospitality — not generic “web developer” taxonomies.

03

Profiles, Chat & Saved Jobs

Talent profiles with skills, reviews, video intro and public URLs. Secure 1:1 internal chat, login-gated save-job / save-talent, and a Business Growth Hub so both sides stay on-platform instead of leaking to email.

04

Membership Billing for Agencies & Talent

Paid plans native to the marketplace: agency Basic ($7.95/gig), Plus ($19.95/mo) and Premium ($49.95/mo); talent Free, Pro ($1/mo) and Expert ($3/mo) with markets, gallery images, custom URLs, banners and notification markets.

Outcome

Results & metrics

We built FluxGig in Laravel as a live talent marketplace at fluxgig.com. Agencies post date-stamped event gigs with rates and cities; talent apply, message, and grow a public profile. The homepage already surfaces marketplace scale — thousands of talent profiles, 100 gig agencies, 150 gigs filled — plus featured jobs, category browse, top talent, and membership conversion. The result is a two-sided event-staffing platform, not a brochure: search, applications, chat, saved jobs, and paid plans running on Laravel.
